Wizards of the Wire Community Workshops

Run by SeedArts The Wizards of the Wire workshops invite local community members living on Bundjalung country to experience the therapeutic benefits of 'funambulism' (wire walking with a balance pole) and to be part of the cultural activation of celebrating the legendary, but little known, tightwire virtuoso Con Colleano - a Lismore-born, Gamilaroi man, who was the original Wizard of the Wire. The workshops are a post-flood, creative recovery initiative that teach funambulism through a 'wire-walking for wellbeing’ lens to support wellbeing and good mental and physical health.
The workshops draw on breath work, mindfulness, finding one’s inner and outer balance, and overcoming fears. We hope that in (wire)walking in Colleano's shoes, participants will be better able to appreciate Colleano's incredible achievements and also celebrate their own.
Some participants will be invited to perform as 'community walkers' in The Xrossing.
Bookings are free, but essential. Participants need to be able to commit to a daily session from the 1st July to the 4th July and rehearsal days 6th &7th July and Show days 8th and 9th July.
