Bobby Alu
Australian/Samoan singer, ukulele strummer and drummer Bobby Alu's music makes you feel like you have your favorite drink in hand, sipping as the sun sets on a warm evening that’s laden with the promise of adventure. In an ideal world, he’d follow summer around the earth, in his endless quest to nail that feeling in his songs that ride the groove spectrum from Polynesian folk, through roots, reggae, harmony laden soul to tropical pop. With a reputation as a world-class performer – touring as Xavier Rudd’s percussionist for five years, and supporting the likes of Xavier, John Butler Trio and Trevor Hall across North America and Europe – Bobby’s most recent album Keep It Tropical debuted at #3 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart. The album primarily serves as his mission statement: Take naps. Be generous. Go on adventures. Have gratitude. Enjoy the little things. Strive to be better. Don’t be so serious. Love. Laugh a lot. Eat the odd donut. Swim in the ocean. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth.
Blakboi
BLAKBOI Kamilaroi/Maori singer, songwriter & producer. - multi-instrumentalist loops beats, keys, guitars, voice and dij. Award winning musician, visual artist and activist, surfer and poet. Blakboi will change the way you see the world. Blakboi (Tom Avery) is a young man from the Kamilaroi peoples' of central NSW now living on the Bundjalung Nation around the Tweed Heads area. His father (Tom Avery) is a renowned Indigenous artist and surfer. His mother (Jennifer Avery) a talented singer/guitarist and full blood Maori from the Taranaki Province of New Zealand. Blakboi music breaks boundaries for singer/songwriters. Folk, rock, reggae, disco, dance , trance, pop and soul. Hip hop, rap, accapella attack your senses, colours and shapes created for all tastes. Influences include RHCP, The Beatles, The Herd, Fat Freddy’s Drop. Blakboi has played alongside Archie Roach, Xavier Rudd, John Butler, Yung Warriors, Wolfmother and Dubmarine.
